The Story Behind the Coffee
Introducing "A Cup of Prevention", a benefit coffee to support the Victim Services Center of Montgomery County, Inc. during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. This is a special Guatemala coffee called Fénix, it is a medium roast with notes of chocolate, mixed nuts, and apple.
With each purchase of this 12 ounce bag of coffee, you're not just getting a delicious brew; you're standing in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and supporting the vital work of VSC. Since 1974, VSC has been a beacon of hope, offering essential services to survivors and their loved ones, advocating for justice, and tirelessly working towards a violence-free society.

More about the coffee: We have sourced Fénix from the Guatemala based importer Onyx. As producers themselves, they have seen over the last few generations the challenges that smallholder farmers have faced in Guatemala. Fénix is sourced from smallholder farmers and it is a statement of hopeful solidarity. It is these smallholder farmers that have faced natural disasters, a 30 year civil war, and other adversities. Onyx’s goal is to help working families gain market access and knowledge, then “we rise together”, hence the name Fénix.
About VSC Montco:
Victim Services Center (VSC) is a non-profit, comprehensive crime-victim agency in Montgomery County, PA. The driving force in the organization was to help rape victims in the hospital, through law enforcement and the judicial system in 1974. By 1985, services to other crime victims were included for all women and men.
VSC provides confidential services at no cost to survivors of crime and their loved ones. Their mission is to provide advocacy and counseling for all affected by sexual violence and other crimes, and to promote prevention and awareness in the community through education. They empower the community, envision, and are working towards a society free from violence.
