Antioquia is the largest producing region in Colombia, however, coffees grown at high altitude that have a higher scoring cup quality are more rare to find. These gems are starting to come out into the market more and more, and it’s thanks to our partner in Colombia, Coffee Quest, for finding these pearls. Some of these coffees are grown at a whopping 2200 meters above sea level! Higher elevation makes the coffee cherry mature more slowly, developing more sugars in the cherry. This lot is called Las Perlitas because it is a blended lot of high scoring lots, these are the pearls of Antioquia.

From our export partner in Colombia, Coffee Quest: Las Perltias Antioquia: Throughout the harvest, it's quite common that small-holders in Colombia produce lots that aren't large enough to be exported on their own. However, the quality is often just as good (or better) than samples received from larger lots. As such, we decided to buy all coffees, regardless of size and create a larger, export-size lot based on cup score and profile. The result is Las Perlitas Antioquia; a celebrated coffee of various small lots from producers in Antioquia, whose farms range in elevation from 1,700 to 2,200 m.a.s.l and grow Caturra, Colombia and Castillo. This iteration of Las Perlitas is made up of producers from the following municipalities: Giraldo and Caicedo.
